She’d appear in the new Disney Plus show, set in the MCU
The Jeremy Renner app may be dead, but Hawkeye’s future is bright.
On Monday, Variety reported that the offer is out to Hailee Steinfeld for a lead role of the Disney Plus series Hawkeye, which will focus on Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton training his protege Kate Bishop to take up the sharpshooter mantle. Steinfeld recently starred in 2018’s Bumblebee and also voiced Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. If she does indeed get the role of Kate Bishop, it would be her second streaming television show; she’s also starring as Emily Dickinson in Apple TV Plus’s coming-of-age comedy series, Dickinson.
The idea of Kate Bishop in the Marvel Cinematic Universe buzzed through last year. Footage of Clint Barton training a young girl in one of the trailers for Avengers: Endgame as well as 13 Reason Why star Katherine Langford’s mysterious casting fueled rumors of her appearance. The young girl Clint trained ended up being his daughter and Katherine Langford’s deleted scene had her as a future version of Tony Stark’s daughter Morgan. At San Diego Comic-Con, however, Marvel confirmed that the upcoming Disney Plus Hawkeye series would focus on Kate Bishop.
In addition to Hawkeye, other Disney Plus Marvel shows — which will tie in with the main cinematic universe — include The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, and She-Hulk.
